San Telmo Foundation
The San Telmo Foundation is who we are. The Business School is what we do.
The San Telmo Foundation is an independent, non-profit institution whose purpose is to foster economic and business development in southern Spain and among selected sectors and communities internationally. It was formally established by public deed on 28 July 1982.
His Majesty King Juan Carlos I of Spain accepted the Honorary Presidency of the Foundation in recognition of its aims. In 1991, he chaired the First Assembly of Members and inaugurated the Foundation’s new facilities. In 2006, Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain again attended the Foundation, inaugurating the Fourth General Assembly of the Association of Members. Ten years later, in 2016, His Majesty King Felipe VI inaugurated the Sixth Assembly of Members of the Institute and subsequently accepted the Honorary Presidency of the San Telmo Foundation as King of Spain.
In September 1982, the Foundation created an International Centre for the Education and Development of Senior Management in public and private companies and institutions: San Telmo Business School, which has benefited from the academic support of numerous international institutions.
Created through the enthusiasm of a group of business owners led by Javier López de la Puerta, the Foundation launched San Telmo Business School in the same year it was established. Its strong international standing was reinforced by joining the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) in 1990 and the Latin American Council of Management Schools (CLADEA) in 1992.
Supported by its Board of Trustees, the Foundation independently promotes an institutional mission focused on strengthening business excellence and the sustainable progress of society.

Message from the President
“The San Telmo Foundation has been, is and will continue to be a key institution for the socioeconomic development of Andalusia and Spain, as well as wherever we carry out educational activities. Through San Telmo Business School, many senior executives, business owners and public leaders from Spain, Europe, Africa and Latin America have developed their capabilities or received executive education.
Today, no one doubts that the future of business is closely linked to the management capabilities of business and public leaders. Making sound decisions on the issues that matter and designing and executing effective action plans are essential responsibilities for those at the top of public and private institutions.
To achieve this, leaders need to devote time to their professional and personal development in a practical, action-oriented environment. San Telmo provides that environment: a breeding ground for initiatives, business, excellence at work and respect for people. It has been built over many years, and the journey has not been easy. It has only been possible thanks to the selfless contribution of many business owners, executives and public leaders, especially the Board of Trustees, Advisory Boards and Alumni who belong to the Association of Members. We are deeply grateful to them. In fact, they are San Telmo.”
