Chair on Woman, Business and Society
San Telmo Business School
Purpose
For years, the conversation has focused on how many women reach management positions. The Chair on Woman, Business and Society proposes moving toward a more useful question for anyone running an organization: what does a company lose when its best talent never gets to lead? Since 2016, San Telmo has studied this reality from a general management perspective.
The Chair starts from one conviction: making full use of the available talent is not only a matter of representation, but of management quality. Its purpose is to research which selection, promotion, development and governance processes allow the best talent —women and men— to reach positions of responsibility and contribute to building better companies.
Objectives
This approach takes shape in the Executive Talent Architecture, a proprietary framework that links leadership, merit, talent development, co-responsibility, diversity, good governance and value creation. The Chair’s mission is to promote women’s participation in management in order to build better companies.
Research, business and training form a single learning cycle: the Chair generates knowledge, contrasts it with those who run organizations and brings it back into management practice.
The Chair researches how organizations select, develop, retain and promote talent. Studies, cases, technical notes and articles turn evidence into knowledge applicable to real management and governance decisions.
Learning activities
The knowledge generated is brought into the classroom through the case method, meetings, round tables, workshops and seminars. The aim is to develop management capabilities and to contrast, with business owners and executives, which practices make the best use of the available talent.
Dissemination and networking
The Chair seeks to lead the business conversation on talent and management from a standpoint of academic rigor, giving visibility to proven experiences and connecting executives and companies that are building more diverse and better-managed organizations.
How to collaborate with the Chair?
Companies are not merely recipients of the Chair’s work: they are part of the process of generating and testing knowledge. There are different ways to join this community of business reflection:
Taking part in or sending executives to the Chair’s learning activities.
Facilitating the writing of a case on real decisions and experiences of one’s own organization.
Taking part as a speaker or invited protagonist in specialized sessions.
Joining the Advisory Board, understood as a permanent testing laboratory between research and business practice.
Advisory Board: leaders committed to diversity
The Advisory Board is a community of business reflection made up of executives and business owners with proven track records. Its role is to put the research to the test of reality, contribute experience and help ensure that the knowledge generated responds to the true challenges of those who run organizations.
