Chair of Regional Development

San Telmo Business School

Purpose

Active towns, thriving communities.

The vitality of our rural districts is a necessary condition for balanced economic and social development. The lack of job opportunities and services encourages rural depopulation and makes generational renewal harder.

The Chair of Regional Development at San Telmo Business School was created as a practical instrument to help reverse this dynamic. It is a forum for reflection and strategic collaboration in which companies and public administrations share experiences, good practices and projects capable of generating economic activity and attractive opportunities in the territory.

Its mission is to help build a better society by strengthening the productive fabric of local districts: creating and growing companies, fostering the services they need to develop and helping people put down roots and grow the population of our towns.

Objectives

The Chair directs its work towards turning knowledge and public-private collaboration into concrete initiatives that strengthen local districts and improve their ability to attract activity, talent and population.

  • Identifying and documenting success stories in regional transformation and entrepreneurship.
  • Analysing and sharing good practices that can be transferred to other territories.
  • Strengthening business culture and business relationships among the companies of each district.
  • Bringing companies and institutions together to drive shared projects and the services they need to develop.
  • Helping to retain and grow the population, fostering quality of life and a better demographic and environmental balance.
Activities and areas of action

The Chair combines applied research, education and dissemination to identify useful solutions and put them within reach of business owners, executives and public officials.

Case writing

Writing cases on districts and business experiences that make it possible to analyse transformation models and generate debate.

Articles and dissemination

Preparing and disseminating articles, technical notes and other content on regional development. Organizing teaching activities, conferences and seminars for business owners, executives and public administration officials.

Participation in forums

Taking part in European forums to exchange experiences and connect territories facing similar challenges.

Recognition

Recognizing and highlighting people, companies and institutions that are benchmarks in rural development and territorial revitalization.

Join the Advisory Board: participation and benefits

The Advisory Board brings together companies and institutions committed to revitalizing local districts and allows them to take an active part in guiding the Chair. Being part of this body means having a voice and a vote in its strategic decisions, helping define priorities and connecting with a network of organizations that share the purpose of generating economic and social development in the territory.

Participation also offers brand visibility at events and in publications, access to a Europe-wide network of contacts and the opportunity to invite clients to exclusive events. Organizations such as CaixaBank, Cosentino, COVAP, ALVIC and Almería Provincial Council are part of an ecosystem that seeks to turn collaboration into real projects and opportunities for local districts.
